Sir Tom Finney CBE (05/04/1922 -14/02/2014) was an English footballer and widely acknowledged as one of England’s greatest players.

Preston appearances 433 league and 40 FA Cup appearances, scoring a total of 210 goals and represented England 76 times and scored 30 goals.

On 31/07/2004 Tom Finney unveiled the water feature sculpture The Splash by sculptor Peter Hodkinson outside Deepdale, the inspiration for the sculpture came from the 1956 Sports Photograph of the year taken by John Horton.

Nathaniel (Nat) Lofthouse CBE (27/08/1925. – 15/01/2011) was an English footballer who played his entire career with Bolton Wanderers,

452 appearances scoring 255 goals appearances for England 33 scoring 30 goals

In August 2013 a statue was erected of Nat Lofthouse outside The Reebok Stadium and in April 1998 Train Operating Company Virgin Cross Country named a locomotive 47807 Lion of Vienna in his honour at Bolton Station.

Unfortunately no COA as the photograph was found in a skip to be destroyed.
