In September 1957 seven young men arrived at Georgetown, the capital of British Guiana, bringing with them three land rovers and a tremendous amount of expedition equipment. After spending a few days in the capital they set off on a trek that was to take them through primary jungle, across rivers and creeks, until eventually they reached the savannah grasslands on the Brazilian border.
Here they met the cattle ranchers, had exciting experiences fishing for the arapaima, and saw many specimens of the bird and animal life which abounds in this remote corner of the British Commonwealth.
Three members of the team then left the main party to begin a further journey to “the lost world” of Mount Roraima – a remote sandstone plateau – mountain on the borders of British Guiana, Venezuela and Brazil.
Journey to the Lost World is an account of this journey beginning at Georgetown and ending with what was very nearly a tragic climax on the rain swept summit of Roraima.
The book is in a very good condition and has been read, the dustcover is in a very good condition, and not price clipped 10/6d
